Tips for Preparing & Cooking Your Tofurkey

Bring Tofu to Room Temperature

Before you start making your tofurkey, you’ll want to let your tofu set on the counter for a while. We recommend taking your tofu out of the refrigerator hours before starting your recipe. This will help to soften the tofu before you put it in the food processor.

Get the Consistency Right

In order to make your tofu smooth and creamy, so it’s best to divide it into small, equally sized proportions before placing them in your food processor or blender. Also, make sure to check the consistency of your blended tofu. You don’t want to see chunks or clumps.

Season with Soul

When adding seasoning to your tofurkey, you’ll want to mix your tofu and spices together in a large mixing bowl, then give your tofu a chance to firm up before molding it.

Making and Filling Your Tofurkey Shell

When making your tofurkey shell, you need to place two-thirds of the tofu mixture in the pan, press firmly and create a well (with 1-inch-thick walls). Add the stuffing to the center and seal gently with the remaining tofu.

Bake Extra Stuffing on the Side

Don’t throw your extra stuffing away. Simply place it in a baking dish and bake for 10 minutes in the oven. Once it’s golden brown, you can serve it as a side dish that everyone will love.

Bake Perfectly

Keep in mind that some ovens run hotter than others. A simple rule of thumb is to bake until your tofurkey is golden-brown on the outside. That’s how you know it’s ready to eat.
